Introduction to Webmail
While it is possible to access email through an email client on your computer, it is also possible to access email through webmail. Using webmail can offer several advantages. It can allow you to access your email from any computer without downloading it. If you use a secure log-in, you may even feel comfortable doing this on a public computer. It also means that you can send an email using your account even when you are using someone else’s computer that may not even have the same email client that you use.
Some people choose not to have an email client and manage all of their email from their webmail account. If you choose to follow, you will want to make arrangement for back-ups and to download any important emails that you may wish to store on your computer as well as in your website storage.
BlueHost Webmail
BlueHost provides access to multiple programs that enable those with BlueHost hosting accounts to check their email online. These options can be accessed through the cPanel BlueHost control panel in the “Mail” section.
To get to BlueHost Webmail choices, log-in to your control panel, go the the Mail section, and click on the icon form Email Accounts to display the email addresses that you have set up. Select the email address you want to check via webmail. You will see a set of displays to the right of the email address that show the disk storage space it is using, options to change the password and quota, another option to delete it, and a drop-down menu called ‘More,’ which you should select.
The ‘More’ drop-down menu offers two choices, allowing you to configure your email client or access your webmail. Pick the webmail one, entering the password you’ve set for that address, and clicking the ‘Log-in’ button. You will then see your webmail choices: Horde, SquirrelMail, and RoundCube.

BlueHost Webmail Secure Log-in
In order to log-in to your webmail securely, BlueHost recommends that you use one of the following methods:
- Use the address https://<IPaddress>:2096/ where <IPaddress> is the IP address of your server. This address can be found it the stats column of your cPanel.
- Use the address https://<domainname>:2096 where <domainname> is your domain name.
Using either of these approaches, you may have to approve several security warnings.
